Faculty of Engineering & Technology

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING (CYBER SECURITY)

Program Details

In today's networked world, most institutes and ventures depend on different kinds of IT solutions, e-commerce, e-governance, e-learning, e-banking etc. All connections must be safe and under control, since the information accumulated and conveyed is, in the end, a priceless resource of the business.Cyber security or information technology security are the techniques of protecting computers, networks, programs and data from unauthorized access or attacks that are aimed for exploitation. It is for protection from damage of  hardwaresoftware or information, as well as from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide.

Cyber security is susceptible to being tricked into deviating from secure procedures through various methods. The field is of growing importance due to the increasing reliance on computer systems and the Internetwireless networks such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the growth of "smart" devices, including smart phonestelevisions and tiny devices as part of the Internet of Things. Major areas covered in cyber security are Application Security, Information Security, Disaster recovery and Network Security.

IBM has collaborated with Institute of Computer Technology and its experts for training our students and making them prepared for the future’s needs so that students can have direct exposure to the field of Cyber Security.

Program Outcome

  1. This course is designed for creating a comprehensive understanding of the field of cyber security. Students will undergo deeper into hard-core cyber security topics of the course duration. This will set the level field for all the students to be able to come at par and move together with the ever-changing needs and demands of the IT industry.
  2. Cyber Security is a branch where digital data and the integrity of computing assets are protected. It is formulated to make networks, programs, and data save from attacks, damages, or unauthorized access.
  3. Hacking, zero-day attacks, ransomware, viruses, Wi-Fi Eavesdropping, etc are just some examples of the common threats one faces online.
  4. It is also predicted that in the coming years there will be a number of cyber security risks as lives are becoming more dependent on digital devices, services, and space — an attraction to hackers who are only increasing by the day.
  5. According to a recent report by Intel Security in partnership with the CSIS, the global cyber-security workforce will have over 1 million job vacancies by 2019. Even Forbes stated that the cyber security market is expected to grow from $75 billion in 2015 to $170 billion by 2020.
  6. The technological growth, the internet, and availability and sharing of information have tremendously increased information threats to organizations and individuals making it a challenge for users and system administrators to preserve security. Due to the requirement of sophisticated knowledge and tools to keep systems secure, there is a big need in India and around the world for information security professionals who are well educated about the various aspects of information security.
  7. The main objective of this program is to train students to become Cyber security professionals for high-end jobs in the security industry.
