Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, our honourable Minister of Education Jitubhai Vaghani
and the entire team Gujarat. This particular policy, as also our National Education Policy, at
the road map of it were launched during the International Conference of Academic
Institutions held on 5th January, 2022. The policy envisages that the curriculum and the
pedagogy of the institutions must constantly evolve and develop among the students a deep
sense of respect towards the fundamental duties, constitutional values and the sense of
responsibility towards the society. At the end of the day, each student should think in terms
of giving back to the society, working for the society, working for the state, working for the
nation, working for human kind, and working for Mother Earth.
On this occasion, I would like to take up a few things, maybe some could be in the form of I
should say unsolicited advice and some repetition also because the eminent speakers who
have spoken before me, they have sort of covered some of the very important points.
First and foremost, I would like to emphasise on the Government-Academia Industry Market
Society Connect. Academic institutions should not live in isolation, should not operate in
isolation. Likewise, the government also should not operate in isolation. I mean it’s but quite
reasonable. The industry, the market and the society all need to have a good connect. After
all, the curriculum all that is being taught in a university should reflect the aspirations of the
society; the requirements of the contemporary market and industry. And for that it is
imperative that there is a constant dialogue as well as interaction on daily basis amongst the
government, the academia, the industry, the market, and the society. So that after having
pursued higher education, the students who move out should already be endowed with the
requisite skill sets to meaningfully contribute to the society in one form or another.
Another thing that I would like to touch upon would be global competitiveness and relevance.
We should always strive for excellence and global competitiveness and relevance. And
