Hon’ble Shri Ganpat Bhai Patel, fondly known as Ganpat Dada,
and his team of like minded Karmayogis like Shri Becharbhai, Smt.
Shardaben, Shri Kiritbhai, Shri Govindbhai, Shri Kamleshbhai,
Shri Kashyapbhai, Shri Perci Engineer, Eminent members from
Ganpat University Hon’ble Dr. Mahendra Sharmaji, Respected
Amitbhai and all the Professors, faculty, staff and students. So
far, today’s meeting has continued in English, but I would prefer to
speak in Gujarati, partly for the reason that my English is without
grammar and will very likely put you to sleep. And also, because
somebody mentioned that I could continue in Gujarati.
So, today I am going to dwell upon topics such as Honesty, Ethics
and Character Value. But if need be, I might digress from the topic
being discussed to answer questions from the audience, if any.
So, I am flattered by the words so far used for me. But I know who I
am in reality and that’s exactly our company’s tagline is: I am
nothing, but I can do anything. The reason purely being my
upbringing. I am the son of a farmer who comes from a village not
having more than 700 people. I had to walk for 6 kilometers to
reach my school from my village barefoot. Traditionally in my
village, people wouldn’t wear ‘Chappals’ or Shoes until the age of
12. Today, even when my situation has improved drastically, and
people often dub me as an industrialist, I consider myself as
Gaamadiyo Govind. And if there is one thing that my 60 years of
experience has taught me, it’s this realization that I am nothing. It
is, I think, the right way to lead your life.
So, to begin with, I tell you that Business without Honesty, Politics
without Scruples, Dedication without Character, Education
without Values and Life without Wisdom is meaningless, fickle
and hollow. If I were to spill out one golden rule for success, it is to
