that would give him time to compose the newer verses. That is how the Mahabharata was
written. Now why I said this is because think for a moment and substitute Anilbhai with
Ganeshji, and substitute Ganpatbhai with Ved Vyasji and what would you get? You would
get Ganpat University.
(Talking about) today's education, you know, why do we have education? First of all,
education is also for realizing one’s potential as our Sastras and Scriptures also say, and I
might refer to many of them without the Sanskrit part of it but you might be knowing or some
of you might have visited the AMA (Ahmedabad Management Association) and attended the
lecture series organized by the ‘Mamta Centre of Indian Wisdom’ there? Ultimately, it is all
about society working together to bring everyone together. In education, we have literacy
first. You have to understand what is written in terms of letters and words and so on.
Literacy alone is not education. You might read, you might learn, but you might not
understand. If you are only literate, you can be isolated. It can lead to even social isolation
because you think that you know everything, but actually you don't. What you have learned in
terms of words and letters, that is the next step is to learn the difference between education
and learning.
Through education, you understand things but
you must learn how to apply what you have
learned. After learning, its understanding which
means knowing what not to do is also equally
important as what to do. Once a person starts
becoming literate, he would like to create a
different image for himself. Once you are literate,
you are focusing on yourself. You are not focusing
on what other people are looking for. You are
looking for appreciation and recognition, you are
looking for validation of what you are, and that is
what leads to isolation. You don't want to become
a part of the society in which you live. Here you
look at the people they are not.
I do continuous training programs for my
employees. Here, people ask me that everybody
respects them in the company, but at home
nobody listens to them. Well, this is a very normal
thing, even to me sometimes. I can say that the
reason behind it is that we are respected in one
situation and not in another situation. This is because we are two different personalities. We
are not able to carry one personality. We have, of course, different faces here and there.
Hello Mr. Williams, you might be happy to know that I have had an office in Australia also since
1989 and I have a director and a whole team there who live in Australia. We have created
people as leaders there because I have tried to prepare them as dependable that even I can
depend on them. They do not ask me anything when a problem occurs there. I have given
them enough freedom to solve it themselves and that is the education of the company.
Something of this kind, we need to create a situation in our education sector also. With the
students and the faculties, we can create this university a model on which they and we all
should be proud of.
