I know that some people here might be afraid that I am carrying so
many papers with me (to speak on) but, don’t worry, I am not
going to be here too long, so just relax. The papers are only a sign
of confusion. When I was given this invitation, I was given a letter
(wherein it was mentioned that) I was to speak on social
upliftment through education. Now that is a little bit of a hard
subject for me. We are industry people, so we don't think of
education as a tool. We think of education more in terms of
facilitation. So, I had to actually make my own study. I became a
student for the last few days. Later, Anilbhai called me couple of
days back, and told me that they wanted me to speak on how
education should be and what Ganpat University can do and
think like that and today when I came here, and took the round the
university quickly, I visited laboratories of Mechanical
Engineering, the Mechatronics laboratories and also Marine
laboratory and then I could realize that University is far more in
advance than one would think of existing in a backwoods of our
country. Normally, people would think, who would expect this
much here?
I must congratulate you for what I have seen here, especially the
enthusiasm and the interest of Shri Anilbhai and all the trustees
as well as all the faculty members. While I was taken for the visit
by the faculty members, I took a round in the laboratories, (I was
very impressed.) Now coming to today’s session, I have been
thinking about the name GANPAT. It actually triggered a thought
in my mind. You know, when Muni Ved Vyas started working on
Mahabharata, he was looking for a person to scribe it. Who would
write it? He approached the Brahmaji and Brahma told him that
only Ganeshji could do this. Later, he approached Ganeshji and
asked if he could do that. Ganeshji was not very happy with that
offer. What to do with writing? He thought that he was one of the
most intelligent persons in this universe and he just asked him to
write. Even, he said OK, he put a condition. He would write it but
on one condition that his pen should not stop, that means he had
to dictate him faster than he could write. Ved Vyasji agreed on the
counter condition that before writing, he must understand what
the verse meant. He should understand the meaning of the verse
and then only he should write. That way, he would slow down and
