Abstract :
This study analyzes the various impacts of Goods and Service Taxes (GST) in the
scenario of Indian Taxes System. This research narrows its focus on the specific areas of
the Gujarat, i.e. North Gujarat, to outline the impacts of GST on the Small and Medium
Enterprises (SMEs). North Gujarat comprises the districts of Mehsana, kadi, kalol,
Becharaji, and chatral. Firstly, this research introduced the fundamentals of GST, its brief
history, and amendments in the tax structure in the country. This part of the study
includes how the tax structure in the country changed from a traditional tax structure to
the GST model. It was undoubtedly a fact that imposing a new structure of taxes in India
will come with plenty of challenges and difficulties. However, some benefits of the GST
Model are also there which can be seen in the further part of the study. Benefits and
detriment of the impact of GST on SMEs are decided after focusing on the troublesome
issues and convenience offered by the new tax model. So, the objectives of this research
can be described as below;
1. To outline the impact of GST on SMEs in North Gujarat.
2. To discuss the changes in taxation in India from the traditional taxes to a new
GST model.
