husbandry is a very ancient and traditional occupation in rural areas. It provides door
step employment opportunities to farmers with no or least skills. It helps women
empowerment by providing constant and regular income to rural women. Out of 101
Lakh families of the state, 42 lakh families (41.58%) are concerned with Animal
Husbandry occupation, from which 13.60 lakh families (13.46%) are Below Poverty
Line (BPL). The Animal Husbandry is the sole income source to such BPL families.
Livestock production has a significant contribution in Gujarat, as there is substantial
increase in livestock products and byproducts. Approximately 31,024 crore income
was expected from the livestock sector in
Gujarat State in 2012-13. There was an
increase in the population of livestock
and poultry respectively to 8.55% and
64% in the livestock census of year 2007
as compare to the census of 2003.Total
milk production in the state was 101.15
lakh ton in the year 2011-12 which shows
growth rate of 5.07% than previous year
milk production. Milk production in the
country was 1324 lakh ton in the year
2012-13, which shows a growth rate of
3.54% than previous year milk production.
            This has sustainably increased
considerably and conspicuously. In the BUDGET of the year 2018-19 approximately
Rs. 86945 lakh was allotted for the development of animal husbandry and dairy
development of Gujarat state. Now I wish to take this figure to 1..25 million in the
            coming year budget of 2021-22.
At present there are 6 different universities being run in Gujarat for agriculture related
education by the Department of Agriculture. Doing out of box thinking, from the
traditional agricultural university concept, Gujarat government has established
universities like Kamadhenu University and Gujarat Organic Agricultural University.
Various schemes like MOFPT Scheme, APEDA Scheme, NHB scheme, Bio-gas
Subsidies, Agri-Implement subsidies, Agri-support scheme, Horticultural Aid Scheme,
Fisheries Aid Scheme, PM-Kisan Yojana for students and farmers in agriculture
sector under our Agriculture Department. you may visit agri.gujarat.gov.in for more
detail. We make humble efforts to increase the well-being of farmers by doubling
their income by giving them various benefits through proper operation of the
launched scheme for the welfare and all time happiness of the farmer community of
Gujarat. for more detail you may please visit our website www.agri.gujarat.gov.in
I applaud the fact that Ganpat University is going to participate in the efforts of
Sarkar Shri's Gramodaya by establishing Agriculture College. I am confident that

                                                                                           71
