the government has taken some commendable decisions to get us all through this
crisis. The Government of Gujarat introduced a relief package of Rs. 14000 Crores
to bring civic life and businesses back to normalcy from COVID crisis. We also
ensured that the supply of essentials such as food, milk, fruits & vegetables never
got stalled or disrupted even amid crisis.
Almost 80% of the population was supplied with grains worth Rs. 2000 Crores
during April-May 2020. As we have seen during the times of COVID that we owe our
lives to many of those people who took care of us and our relatives by fighting COVID
from the frontlines. The family members of all those frontline workers, including
doctors, para-medics, volunteers, and sanitation staff members who lost their lives
trying to contain the disease were each given 25 lacs by the Government. Even the
Gujarat Health Minister has decided to form committees at the district level to pay
compensation of Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of those who died due to COVID-19.
Sensing the possible dire impacts of the second wave of COVID-19, Ganpat
University prepared a quality COVID care kit of Ayurvedic medicines as directed by
the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and distributed it to more than 500
COVID positive patients. With a more service-oriented approach, Ganpat University
set up a 100-bed COVID care centre for corona patients with all the facilities which
was a joint venture of Mehsana District Health Department, with the approval of
Gujarat Government on 08 April 2021. Here routinely free medical check-up,
admission system, RT PCR test, blood test, all necessary medicines, oxygen as well
as nutritious meal facility, boiling, juice and transporting patients were provided free
of cost to the patients from 86 surrounding villages. More than 3000 patients, 50 RT
PCR tests, 206 blood tests, 56 admitted patients have already availed benefits of this
service without spending a single rupee.
In addition, Mr. Ganapatbhai Patel, President of the University, consulted specialist
doctors of various fields of Indian descent who have settled in the United States,
such as oncologists, nephrologists, psychologists, gynaecologists, and neurologists
to cure hundreds of patients by communicating in their own language over tele-
conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet. The professors of Ganpat
University played a crucial role as interpreters in providing medical treatment to the
patients of different states of the country.
Considering the possibility of the third wave of COVID-19 in the near future, Ganpat
University has appointed full time paediatricians, physicians, required nursing staff,
paramedical staff and all the necessary equipment such as ICU on wheel, ventilator,
multipara machine, ECG. The convenience of all the medicines has been set up in
advance. The benefit of which will surely be given to the admitted patients. The
people of the surrounding villages are taking advantage of the free seva yagna
started by the university.
