15 CONVOCATION
Minister Shri NARENDRA MODI.
I have witnessed Ganpat University grow and flourish from the day one. Ever since
the official beginning of my political career in the year 2012, I remained fortunate
enough to be in touch with Late Shri Anilbhai Patel, the visionary nobleman behind
the present progressed status of Ganpat University. I know that Ganpat University is
at the top among some of the fast progressing private universities in our country,
and the same thing is a matter of my proud privilege. The prestige of Ganpat
University is growing higher and higher touching the higher peaks of the “highest
academic excellence.” I have been directly and indirectly in continuous touch with
the campus and the university officers. I have seen different academic institutions
and colleges lurking amid lush green trees. My heart leaps-up upon seeing this and I
am filled with the feelings of joy, pride and utmost gratification. Let me release my
heartfelt wish that I am looking for any further opportunity to be fortunate enough to
be helpful for the unstoppable progress of this philanthropic university. You all and I
both are well aware of the name and fame of the university so I would not go deeper
into that.
Let me brief a little about the department which I represent in government.
I hold the office of The Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department,
as well as Animal Husbandry Department of Gujarat Government. We takes care of
agriculture and related matters in its charge like horticulture, soil conservation, dairy

Horticulture Department has been set up from the Agriculture Department
considering the importance of the increasing agriculture area for Horticulture
farming and horticultural activities in the State. Four Agriculture Universities are
functional under the Department to carry out education and research related
activities in the area of agriculture and related subjects. Head of the Department
(HOD), Corporations, Committees and other institutions are working under the
administrative control of the department to advice and assist in policy making for

In Gujarat Animal Husbandry provides earning to people with very least specialized
skills to rural people and especially to rural women. Compared to Agriculture, which
provides very fluctuating irregular income, Animal Husbandry provides constant and
fixed income and helps villages to reduce unemployment. Animal Husbandry is
known as the largest occupation adopted in rural India after Agriculture. Animal
