Former Vice Chancellor
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University
She was a former Vice Chancellor of the Babasaheb Ambedkar
Open University and honorary professor at the Gujarat National
Law University GNLU. She had been the president of the Gujarat
Sociological Society. Prof. Amrapali was noted for various
distinguished work related to sociology and society. In her tenure
at the BAOU, she increased the courses from 10 to 76, increased
the centers across India from 24 to 220 and students from 7400
to 35000. She was the only vice chancellor, who had introduced
Mahatma Gandhi's books as a compulsory curriculum in all the
courses by the BAOU. She had started diploma courses for the
blind in physiotherapy. She had written about twenty-one books
and two hundred articles. She was also a noted animal activist.
She had free more than hundred animals from being slaughtered.
