Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar had been the Vice Chancellor of Gujarat
Vidyapeeth, Ahmedabad. Dr. Iyengar served as Director, Centre
for Social Studies, Surat, Gujarat and was responsible for
administration and development of this prime social science
research institutes supported by the Indian Council of Social
Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. He served as Director of
Gujarat Institute of Development Research (GIDR), Ahmedabad.
Dr. Iyengar also worked with NGOs on issues relating to
displacement and rehabilitation of the tribal families affected
by the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Project and was also
associated with ARCH-Vahini, Mangrol, Rajpipla, Gujarat. Dr.
Iyengar's contribution as Member of Board of Governors at
Foundation for Ecological Security has been noteworthy.
