Abstract :
The objectives of the present research study were divided into three parts: part -1 consisted
of one objective: (1) To construct and standardize scientific Aptitude Test for 12+ age group
students. Part -2 consisted of two objectives: (1) To check the effect of sex on the score of
scientific Aptitude Test for 12+ age group students.(2) To check the effect of Area on the
score of Scientific Aptitude Test for 12+ age group students.part-3 consisted of one
objective: (1) To check the effect of mutual interaction of Area and sex on the score of
scientific Aptitude Test for 12+ age group students. Null hypothesis were framed. Variable
included in the study were: Dependent variable was (a) scores obtained by students on
scientific Aptitude Test while Independent Variables included (a) sex of the students –Boys
,Girls (b) Area: Rural, urban .The method of the study was survey method. Population of the
study was to be standardized on 12+ age group students of all gaujarati medium schools
from Gujarat state ,all primary students of 12+ age groups becomes the population for this
test. Whole Gujarat area following four Zones has been decided :North Gujarat, south
Gujarat, Middle Gujarat and Kuthch and saurashtra Gujarat, sample of total 1920 students
were selected through cluster sampling technique to establish the norms and 1920
students from among the sample population have been selected Scientific Aptitude Test
was constructed and standardized by the researcher by adopting procedure i.e. by
conducting item analysis for the item constructed, by establishing reliability, validity and
norms of the scientific aptitude test .Tool was used to collect the data (a) self constructed
Scientific Aptitude Test .Different statistical techniques like Mean , Quartile deviation
,percentile Rank, t-test, T-score, Five point classification .Hypothesis were tested and
findings of the present research: (a) 12+ age group boys and girls studying in rural area
schools have equal scientific aptitude score so it can be said that there is no effect of sex on
scientific aptitude of students studying in rural area school. (b) 12+ age group boys studying
in urban area schools have more scientific aptitude score. (c) No effect of area on scientific
aptitude of girls studying in rural and urban area schools. (d) 12+ age group boys and girls
studying in school have equal scientific aptitude score (e) 12+ age group students studying
in urban area schools have more scientific aptitude scores so it can be said that scientific
aptitude of urban students studying in urban area schools is more.
