            where  you  participate  without  fear  or  favour  equally  and  a  place  where  you  are
            cherished and a place where you grow with equal opportunities. Each person comes
            from a diverse professional background, different skill sets, different cultures but that
            is  the  diversity  which  when  given  equal  and  fair  opportunity.  Make  organizations
            grow and with the organization the individual grows too. Alongside the Government
            and  policy  framework  Business  leadership  too  needs  to  establish  a  culture  and
            working environment where one feels at home, while being their true self and foster a
            team  spirit  that  contributes  to  organizational  goals  and  challenges.  This
            responsibility  must  emanate  from  the  business  leadership.  Around  the  Globe,

            women  are  confined  by  stifling  stereotypes,  discriminatory  laws  and  unhealthy
            practices.  We  together  must  eradicate  this  by  inculcating  inclusive  policies,
            regulations and procedures.

            The  strategy  is  to  have  the  first  step  and  cross  a  threshold,  this  shall  seed  the
            change and change management and organizational learnings shall commence at
            this  first  initiation  phase  –  where  all  stakeholders  contribute  and  this  initiation  is
            then  integrated  into  the  operational  and  growth  plans  of  the  nation  –  hence  the
            initiative  of  “Sagar  Mey  Samman  –  Honour  at  Sea”  which  aspires  to  increase  the
            percentage of women seafarers with a concerted effort and institution support.
            I  commend  and  honour  all  the  lady  cadets  aspiring  as  potential  seafarers  and
            congratulate you on your success and career choice. May you shine brightly and be
            an inspiration to several others to follow your footsteps.
            “WELLBEING” – THE CORE FOR EVERY SEAFARER

            Modern literature brings out the concept of “Wellness” to be a state of well being and
            a  process  that  applies  to  a  “whole  person”.  The  ten  dimensions  of  wellness  have
            been cataloged to the effect that it includes.
            1. Social which contemplates family and social support including cohesion.
            2.  Physical  contemplates  physical  vitality,  active  lifestyle  practices,  structures  and
            exercise.

            3.  Environmental  contemplates  living  conditions  and    physical  surroundings  from
            immediate to global.
