the field of host-guest chemistry and offers insights into the development of
calix[4]pyrrole derivatives as selective molecular receptors for amino acid detection in
aqueous media.
In Chapter 6, we introduced a picolinic acid-functionalized calix[4]pyrrole ligand (PCACP)
for the selective discrimination of ciprofloxacin. The chapter detailed the fluorescence
enhancement observed in the presence of ciprofloxacin, accompanied by NMR and FTIR
complexation studies. Both experimental and computational data highlighted the role of
hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking in ciprofloxacin discrimination. This research offers a
new fluorescence approach to monitor the presence of ciprofloxacin in water samples,
with potential applications in water quality monitoring.
This work has the potential to contribute to environmental safety by offering efficient
chemosensors for detecting analytes in water systems and the environment.
