Abstract :
The domain of information systems is most recently developed and highly focus among
research community. Due to passage of time and ever-changing technology which has
yet to identify, what driver users to adopt and use technology. This gap can address with
scientific investigation.
The demonetization of 2016 has gave momentum to digital payment and it gave push to
banking and financial institution to come with one product which suffice major
requirements of consumers to make digital payment for the various services. Ease of
use, user-friendly touch based interface are major factor which motivates consumer to
adopt technology. However such factor cannot create the lasting impact on consumer to
adopt and use technology. Thus it is required to identify and measure the influencing
factors which stimulate consumer behavioral intention to adopt mobile wallet.
This study measures the influencing factor of consumer to adopt mobile wallet. Further, it
integrates relevant constructs such as promotion, network externalities (derived from
network theory), and task-technology fit in to UTAUT2 theoretical framework. Data were
collected from usable 669 respondents from Gujarat and structural equation modelling
procedure was applied to validate UTAUT2 theory and to test structural model.
The study expand the information systems body of knowledge and provides input to the
industry practitioner to fine-tune their marketing strategies. This study provides next level
of guideline how the developed model can under go with next level of rigorous testing in
the different context of technology adoption branch of information systems.
Key words: Mobile wallet adoption, UTAUT2, task-technology fit, network externalities,
promotion, structural equation modelling.
