Abstract :
Present work comprises of five chapters, It is introduced by first discussing medicinal
and heterocyclic chemistry. Following that, hybrid molecules with two distinct modes of
action are also listed here. This chapter also covered the introduction of Ultrasound
Sonochemistry, Multicomponent reactions, water as a green solvent and green chemistry
as a source of long-term chemistry.
Further chapter two and three emphasizes one pot multi-component synthesis of oxygen
containing heterocyclic compounds via ultrasonic irradiation were synthesized under
ultrasonic irradiation using morpholine as a catalyst in aqueous condition. The
synthesized titled derivatives were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectra
and their spectral characterization are furnished here. Water as green solvent, is used in
the synthesis. The ultrasound assisted synthesis and characterization of 2-amino-4H-
chromene derivatives and 2-oxochromane derivatives are presented in chapter two and
chapter three respectively. Moreover, an optimization study with different conditions was
provided in this chapter.
The present chapter four consists of conventional and microwave assisted multi-step
synthesis of 1, 3, 4- oxadiazole derivatives and their spectral characterization. 1, 3, 4-
oxadiazole derivatives are synthesized via four successive step. Step-I: Synthesis of 5-
(pyridin-4-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol, Step-II: Synthesis of N-(3-acetylphenyl)-2-
chloroacetamide, Step-III: Synthesis of 1-(3-((3-((5-(pyridin-4-yl)-4H-pyrazol-3-yl)
thio)prop-1-en-2-yl)amino)phenyl)ethan-1-one and Step-IV: Synthesis of (Z)-N-(3-(3-
phenylacryloyl)phenyl)-2-((5-(pyridin-4-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)thio) acetamide which is
final derivative of this reaction.
Chapter 5 provided a biological assessment of the recently synthesised substances. All
synthesised compounds are provided their antibacterial activity and SAR studies
(Chapter-2 and Chapter-3). The synthesised compounds are tested using the Kirby-Bauer
disc diffusion technique against bacterial and fungal strains. The antioxidant activity of
Chapter 5's derivatives is evaluated using DPPH free radical scavenging activity.
Key words: One-Pot multicomponent reaction, Ultrasound irradiation, Sonochemistry,
morpholine, 2-amino-4H- chromene, 2-oxochromane, Green chemistry, 1,3,4,-oxadiazole,
DPPH, Antimicrobial and Antioxidant activity.
